Me performing The Porcupine Game on my horse, Sonny.
please no anti-Parelli comments. All those types of comments will be deleted and the member blocked.

The Porcupine Game is used to be able to turn the horse or back them up, etc if need be.

**Just to let everyone know, those marks on my horse's side are bite marks...he's low on the pecking order and alway gets beat up. Just explaining that cause it does look nasty**

  • What is the difference between the driving game and the porcupine game?

  • porcupine you are touching the horse while askign him to move away....driving you are not ;)

  • you didn't do it correctly. You need to push on a place on your horse and when your horse is starting to move/turn or wathever, you need to put your hand away.

  • first off you do not "push" the horse....you simply put your fingers on the horse and they are meant to move away from the pressure. Yes if you just want them to move away a step from the pressure, then once they move you'd put your hand away...but if you want them to go around in a full circle you keep your hand there until they moved where you would like them to go.

  • and ofcourse you use your 2 fingers for this thing. You didn't. And when you walked to his bud, he already starts to turn.

maybe you should use this: This pressure is applied in four phases - press the hair, then skin, then muscle, and finally to the bone!

I didn't see them, when did you use them?

  • you don't use two fingers...yes you CAN use them...but you can use your finger tips, your palm, the end of the carrot stick, anything. And yes he anticipated the turn...this was last year I was still learning Level One myself.

Yes the pressure is applied in four phases...you start with phase one which is a touch of the hairs (not a press), if they ignore you or brush you off thats when you go to phase 2 and so on.

    When did I use what?

  • the driving game uses rithmic pressure while the porcupine game uses steady pressure. in both you start at a phase 1 and go to phase 4. for the porcupine the phases are fur, skin, muscle, and bone.

  • in the driving you use rithmic pressure and for the porcupine game you use steady pressure. in both games you start small and get bigger if you have to. example with the porcupine game you go fur skin muscle bone

  • I definitely use that place also, but if for some reason I need him to turn his hindquarters in a hurry (like if he's pushing me into a wall for example...) I am not going to pay attention to where I place my hand in order to move his hindquarters away, all would do is put my hand someplace in or around zone 4 (the hindquarters) so I want him to respond to that also ;)

  • great job on sunny=)
