"Ya Youm Ashoof Atabek"
(Which day will I see your entrance?)
with English subtitles

Mulla Bassim Karbalaei recites a beautiful eulogy about Imam Ali (as). It is about someone who used to live near the shrine of Imam Ali (as) where he is buried, and always visited him, until he was forced to leave, and how he longs to return.

Imam Ali (as) was the cousin and son-in-law of the Holy Prophet Mohammed (saw), and whom Shia Muslims believe to be the rightful successor of the Holy Prophet (saw). Imam Ali's (as) tragedies and oppressions are an inspiration to hundreds of millions around the globe, weather they be Shia, Sunni, or even Christian. His tribulations are remembered until even today, where millions mourn him as if he died yesterday, which is a testiment to his great morals, his patience, and his desire to give everything for his Lord.

"Haider" is a name of Imam Ali (as).

This eulogy is a remembarance of the family of Mohammed and their struggles and oppression. The chest beating is just culturing way of showing grief, but its foundation represents joining the family of Mohammed in their tragedy and creates a sense of mourning, also showing that love for them is important, pure, and rewardable by Allah (s.w.t.).

Imam Ali (as) had amazing patience, piety and generosity. He was a lion on the battlefield and was the most generous off it. He always looked to serve his Lord, giving everything in his power for that Lord. Every one of his strikes on the battlefield was in the way of God, if he ever became angry, he would stop fighting for awhile and than resume fighting. When asked about this, his reply was he didn't want to kill out of his own anger, only out of God's anger. When the Islamic state came under his ruling, he ensured equal rights for Muslims, Christians and Jews living in the state. He had full knowledge of both the Bible and the Torat. In his time he was oppressed by his own people, his right to lead the Islamic state was taken from him, and his wife, Fatima Zahra (sa) [the daughter of the Holy Prophet Mohammed (saw)] was oppressed and killed. Imam Ali (as) met his Lord on Lailat al-Qadr (The Night of Power) in Ramathaan at the age of 63. He was struck on the head by an assassin whilst Imam Ali (as) was in prostration, leading the morning prayers. The strike intensified an old wound and the sword was poisoned. After he was hit, Imam Ali (as) said that his killer should be given water before himself, an example of his almost limitless generousity. After three days the Imam (as) died a martyr. His killer said regarding this, that the strike that he hit Imam Ali with would have killed any man, but because it was Imam Ali in prostration to his Lord he didn't die. Imam Ali (as) is buried in Najaf, Iraq, in a shrine that is a place of pilgrimige to hundreds of millions across the world, including both Sunnis and Shias. Imam Ali's (as) character has caused him to be loved and respected by hundreds of millions across the globe, from different religions, demoninations and schools of thought.

  • دنياية نفرت عني وحتى الصبر مل مني، مشتاق اشوفك يا حيدر... مشتاق اشوفك

  • i'm crying a lot while watching this. thank you for yr translation :)

I need to return to visit you, O Haidar!

  • @alsawt1 Of the few Khawarej who survived the battle of Nahrawan, they decided to exact revenge on Imam Ali (A.S.) and sent Ibn Maljim to assassinate him. They also sent another one of their own to kill Mu3awiya, but that assassin unfortunately didn't succeed. So Mu3awiya was not behind the killing of Imam Ali (A.S.) although I'm sure he was hatching plots to do so and he was undoubtedly very happy when he heard of the Imam's death.
