Gidget tries to attract the attention of surfer Jeff. Anne, upset that her little sister is staying out all night, reads her diary and misinterprets its contents. For more Pete Duel, please visit the Pete Duel Memorial Site, www.peteduel.info.
Note, in the closing credits, The Four Freshmen are credited with singing the opening theme. They did- in the unaired version of the pilot (the closing credits are from that edition). Johnny Tillotson sang it for the series, and he received screen credit in the broadcast version.
Virtually all Screen Gems sitcoms used each other's sets at one time or another, 'Good' (the patio [and entrance] outside the living room was also part of Tony Nelson's home during the first season of "I DREAM OF JEANNIE"). And the "neighborhood block" at the Columbia Ranch {now the "Warner Ranch"} was always seen in their various series, with each home as soemone else's residence.
Notice Gidget's house is different in the pilot. It's the original "Blondie" house also Mr.s Wilson's in "Dennis The Menace." Tony Nelson's in "I Dream of Jeannie" and Jim Anderson's house in "Father Knows Best."
Sally Field took classes in method acting after she graduated high school. That's why she's so good on here.Plus I think her step-father was a tyrant. I read somewhere that he practically forced her into auditioning for The Flying Nun, which as a matter of fact, she said she despised being in. She was very good in Gidget. Larry? I guess that's who John was originally was supposed to be named. I wonder why they left it in the credits?
I wish I could go back in time and see these when they were first run.Maybe there would have been a season 2 a bunch of people could have written to ABC and begged them to keep it on.Here is something that I've always wanted to know, what happened to Betty Connor? Anne, Gidgets sister, it seems she's fallen off the face of the earth.

Well, you know John might not be able to beat dad at cards but I'll bet Hannibal Heyes could.

The credits list Pete's character as "Larry." Wonder why?
