  • Can you build this structure on just regular concrete blocks? The rectangular ones with the square holes?

  • @yukichan999 I am not sure if the compression strength of those type of blocks are enough to carry the weight long term.

  • There called deck blocks or pier blocks any of the big box stores carry them .

  • Your very welcome thanks for your views

  • Thanks that is exactly what I want to do . Make sure you ask questions if you have any . If you don't want to do that on an open forum you can email me I want you to be successful with you projects .

  • Kevin,

I'm really looking forward to this video series. I consider myself someone who has very little construction skills, and plan on using your videos to construct first a "chicken coop" and second a portable bug out shelter. Thanks again for thinking of us who are lacking in skills.

  • Great info, thanks for showing each step.

  • Really good info. They should teach this stuff in school, since dads are rare these days.

  • I want my home to have a root cellar, maybe with a trap door access through the floor. I don't know why basements and cellars are so rare in Washington State, but I'm sure it has something to do with water. Would you make a video someday about root cellars, how to build one, what they need, and how to frame a house over one? Maybe also explain french drains and legal requirements for egress?

  • Q: Please tell me about nails vs. screws. You mentioned either could be used. When and why would you choose one over the other? Any special tips about making them go in straight and true and do a good job? (total newbie here)

  • Where do you get those concrete blocks from?, I can never find them that shape.

  • Thank You!!!
