@12052monkey that must be 22% DRIVER ERROR...It's certainly an error to fall asleep.

Do not see why he drove so far after the accident?. I would of stopped on the new part. Tried to save the trailer. I know that there is more than likely a reason, but that's my view. Since I do not drive these big rigs and only drive rigid backs I do not say I understand it.

Looks like to me he got in his trailer brakes and the tandems were slid all the way forward. When the trailer brakes engaged, they ran right off the back of the track because it had too much momemtumn for the stops on the tandem to do their job...that's just MY opinion.

Wisconsin used to have a maximum vehicle length law that meant that even though I was traveling with a load that could never exceed weight limits on any axles, To pass the scales I had to have the fifthwheel moved all the way forward. This put more weight on the front (steering) axle, and made the ride in a cabover very bumpy. When I got down the road aways from the scale shack, I would release the air lock on the fifthwheel, apply a little trailerbrake and slide back to a more comfortable ride.

look at the cop behind the tandems you cant park these here you need to move asap lol

I dont think it had anything to do with sliding the axles. Looks to me like he crossed over, hit the guard rail, ripped the axles out. Look at the drag marks going from the new blacktop to the old on the right side. Thats just where the axles stopped rolling. And did I see that there are flat tires as well? Probably from hitting the guard rail. Imagine that.

@ccaron91 put simply in to much of a hurry and gave up his job(you realy think he is still a trucker anywhere after that?)
-
@ccaron91 he took off those are not built to last they are meant to hit so the driver knows it is all the way back. after reaching the highway he might have hit the brake sending it forward then the gas agine sending it back the amount of torque in a truck will snap those rear bolts like a twig sending those tandems flying(this can happen anywhere from 40 miles a hour to 140 after which the fact that it wants to stop will snap the bolts anyway even without slowing first)
-
@lolahavasuaz (had to cut it into three comments) not sure if anyone said this to you yet but them pins are solid even if you take a hack saw to them for two hours(trust me i tried when trying to rip some old trailers apart) they are maid to last so that is not the problem the problem might have been a new driver or a stupid one(no ofence) he probably set the tandems all the way back and seeing it set solid (aka it hit the bolts in the way back but did not actually set)
-
one time i was coming from the conway in richland mississippi and the tandem pins didn't lock, i got on i55 and a little while down the road there was a thump and we sorta slowed down. my trainer and i were like "what the fuck was that?" i watched the mirrors going around corners and i was like "uh, the tandems are all the way back" so then i made sure i did up the tandems from then on.

Air assisted or manually operated, the dumbshit didn't check to see if all four pins were locked after he slid his axles in place. Those pins don't shear off when locked. When you "set" your axles do a tug test then get your fat ass out of the truck and make sure the pins are extended through their respected slots...jeeeese!
Bendix Tandem lock systems have a pin lever or air assisted tandem lock the can get clogged with dirt and tend to fail to close this is most likely the scenario as with alot of construction he could've had lost all the air reserve in the trailer and the trailer brakes locked and sheared the pins too many variables

@pastorgeorgem Check some of my previous comments to see what I think actually happened. I don't think it really had anything to do with sliding the tandems.

Leave it to a sorry ass Swift driver to be RECORDING A VIDEO WHILE DRIVING. Have u ever thought that someone in ur company may see that, report it, fire u, and then u can't work anymore cuz ur labeled as a Fuck up? It's bad enough that ur driving for Swift but damn, just let the world know eh?
tmcrooster 9 months ago
@tmcrooster No, it never crossed my mind...thanks for the warning...

@SWIFT95330 I wouldn't worry to much about what tmcrooster says... there are worse places to work, for instance TMC.. and as far as videoing goes, I would suggest getting a dash mount or tripod for your camera.

@FarmerTrans I agree about the advice to find a way to mount the camera, good advice to pass on to any drivers who would like to make videos. I ended up getting a tiny tripod, and clamping it to the grab bar on the left side of the windsheild. You'll see a slightly skewed perspective on many of my other clips. That was the most stable spot I could find in my bumpy ass truck.
