A Lament for Mojácar - after the fire

The land all around Mojácar is still smouldering 2 days after the fire which destroyed most of the cultivated areas and damaged many houses. Miraculously no one was killed. The fire reached the edges of the village and the population was evacuated. This montage shows what they found when they returned. The army , volunteers helicopter pilots and firefighters are moving on to the next big fire - there have been 15 this week in Spain - and at least 6 firefighters have died. We thank all the rescue services for their bravery and for their help. , But come the spring new growth will begin again and Mojacar will be as beautiful as ever.....

It's a shame the fire didn't burn down that eye-sore of a hotel they built on the side of the pueblo. Obviously it's better that no one was hurt.
