The First Revelation

Yasir Qadhi was born in Houston, Texas and completed his primary and secondary education in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He graduated with a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Houston, after which he was accepted as a student at the Islamic University of Madinah. After completing a diploma in Arabic, he graduated with a B.A. from the College of Hadith and Islamic Sciences. Thereafter, he completed a M.A. in Islamic Theology from the College of Dawah.

His published works include Riya'a: The Hidden Shirk, Du'aa: The Weapon of the Believer, and An Introduction to the Sciences of the Qur'an.

Yasir Qadhi is currently pursuing his doctorate, in Religious Studies, at Yale University in New Haven, CT.

I thought that Zaid was the only sahaba to be named explicitily by name in the Quran? He said it was Abu Bakr. Quran surah 33 Al-Ahzab, Ayat 37.

"Allah calls Abu Bakr, in the Quran, "the companion of the prophet" - sahib. The only person whom Allah calls a companion explicitly is Abu Bakr."

Maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought and have been taught that Hz. Khadijah (RA) was the first one to believe in our Rasul and became the first Muslim.

Ismail reported: I said to 'Abdullah b. Abi Aufa: Did Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) give glad tidings of Paradise to Khadija? He said: Yes. I appreciate these series I am on the 10th one as of now...I am studying the history seeking answers.....these teachings are a great start to understanding the prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and his life. I am awed.....Hopefully one day I will be as knowledgeable....I am striving to become a strong muslimah one day very soon. Hence the need for the history as well as understanding.

Shukran Garabsare - indeed, isn't that beautiful two such important figures in our history were the first in two unique roles, where women. May Allah Grant them the Best of Paradise, al-Firdaus. Of course, Hz. Khaidjah (RA) was given the Glad Tidings of Paradise while she was still alive.
