Lin-Manuel Miranda's music and lyrics for Broadway's "In the Heights" earned him a Tony Award for best original score. Miranda also starred in the show's original Broadway cast. John Mark Rafacz speaks with Miranda about his childhood in Manhattan, his immigrant parents, and his motivation for writing "In the Heights." Miranda also talks about his love for both old-school musicals and hip-hop culture. The interview features an excerpt of the title track from the original Broadway cast recording of "In the Heights," copyright 2008 Sh-K-Boom Records, Inc.
