Here is a nice little video on why we need to act on the issue of global warming. Even if you do not believe that the glob is warming, there is no doubt you will understand that either way we should all do our part to help save the planet before it is to late!

Enjoy!

  • It's Pascal's Wager and its as false an argument for God then as it is for the environment and everything else today.

In warm periods in the past, the Earth thrived, forests spread, deserts shrank, storms moderated as the temperature gradient between tropics and poles reduced. For some reason, somewhere along the way, someone convinced you that the opposite must be true - but that's where you've been fooled.

  • Yes, I realize it's Pascal's Wager and I'm putting my wager on the environment and God for that matter.

  • no offense! ;-) there IS HOPE 4 U LOL!

  • Your a shill! God would not have instructed us to go forth and multiply to COVER THE WHOLE EARTH if there would be a problem with that. Your thinking is way off. It presumes that God, Who foresees all, set us up to fail, which is totally not the case. Sure, if you dump hundreds of millions of gallons of poison into the Gulf in such a short time - things will die, or if you jump off a bridge. dollarpages is a dot ORG check it out, smarten up, don't waste waste band width on stupid stuff, move on!

  • And, we have not even come close to previous hot levels. Think about it, if there is any activity left in your brain after the cell phone and all that pop you drink! God, Who can foresee the future, already anticipated anything you can come up with. Global warming, if it was real, would have led to the end of fossil fuels. I see SUV's getting bigger and bigger. Next time, don't show us your disgusting living quarters, clean up first. Maybe brush your teeth, also. Focus on real stuff: CHEMTRAILS

  • you are a DORK! NO SUCH THING AS GLOBAL WARMING! We started measuring AFTER the BOTTOM of the really hot period, which means from the coldest point. DUH! It had NO WHERE TO GO BUT UP! plus, they totally took the MWP right out of the propaganda - to generate what is known as the "hockey stick" graph, where the rapid upturn of the blade is supposed to MISLEAD US INTO THINKING THAT global warming is a crisis - I'm a doctor-researcher-scientist Who the fck are you - moron! ASPARTAME ON THE BRAIN!!!

  • ---cont'd--- Applying the logic you described would leave you no choice. Pay the money. Unless of course, there was nothing wrong with your foundation... One can run an infinity of scenarios in which your logic would apply, but shouldn't. Talk about a castle of playing cards crumbling down. Smoke and mirrors is all you showed. Not unlike the topic at heart. Sorry. It just doesn't work. Or more precisely, works conveniently too well.

  • ---cont'd--- This is what happens when too much thinking blurs the vision. Let me illustrate how I believe your demonstration, albeit well constructed, is absolutely useless. Say I come to your house as a foundation repairman, declaring that your house is about to crumble, and it is just a matter of time before you will have to live with the responsibility of having decimated your family because of your inaction, unless you pay me a fortune to fix its foundation. ---see next---

  • So clear and impossible to argue! Unfortunately, this little demo applies to EVERYTHING. And therein lies the problem.

  • A very salient point and a good way to get people thinking about risk managment. Unfortunately, if, as you suggest, you put more columns in, i.e. a gradient of action scenarios, then you get a number of columns to chose from. When that happens you are discussing the likelihood of an event occuring and you are right where you started from.

  • Sir, Bravo. Very good points. I am not a tree hugger or liberal, but I agree with your logic. As my old First Sergeant use to say, "Plan for the worst, and hope for the best!"

    Ike

  • i love how it's my spelling that you bring up to try and counter me not any of my points becasue you know i'm right, so how about you try to argue me on an intulectual level and not just sling mud my way
