I went to Sharon Station earlier today and i was testing the zoom feature on my camera. As i was aiming down the tracks i spotted a hiker/hobo about a half mile away walking toward the station. I thought to my self whats the worst thing that could happen... and then it happened "TRAIN APPROACHING PLEASE STAND BEHIND THE YELLOW LINE"

I was wondering when he was going to get out off the track because when the train got to the station he was still on walking along.

Math Equation (If I'm Right)

One Amfleet coach car weights about 116,000 pounds, there's usually 8 cars on a regional train so 8*116,000= 928,000lbs and the Aem-7 locomotive weights about 101 tonns which is equal to 202,000 pounds. 928,000+202,000 = 1,130,000lbs

So imagine having 1,130,000 pounds of pure steel moving at 125mph to (135mph) (NEC Top Speed) toward you as you are walking at 5mph toward the train.

By the way i hate Math, but sometimes it's helpful...

Sorry this description is so long, i have a couple more videos of some other trains i caught while visiting Sharon Station today that should be up tomorrow.

As Always Thanks For Watching!

  • that sucked. I wanted to see that guy get wasted.

  • He definitely wasn't behind the yellow line!!!

  • @GavinSimmons

The Acela is a train that has very high ridership, so seeing a price increase is not too shocking. Viewliner IIs are coming in during the fall of 2012.

  • @kmothersil ah ha. I looked it up right after i read your first post. I'm looking forward to 2013. I guess thats where the money goes. when I first started college my acela tickets were like $75. in the end it cost about $135

  • @GavinSimmons

The ACS-64 in 2013. That's short for Amtrak Cities Sprinter. It will have 8600 h.p. and is being built by Siemens. They will replace the DC tractioned AEM-7s first and then the AC tractioned AEM-7s and finally the HHP-8s.

  • @kmothersil replaced by what?

  • I love how after the train probably scared the shit out of him, he goes right back up to the tracks and resumes his walk down the middle of the mainline.

  • Who would hike on the North East Corridor?

  • by far the slowest 125 i have ever seen

  • wow it was going 125 on that curve?
