Totally agree! I think the more stripped-down version on SPECTACLE is a superior rendition of the song. The full band version doesn't work as well, for me. The drums are a distraction. But then, when you have a backing band consisting of Elvis and Steve, you really don't need anyone else. Compositionally, she is so much more advanced than 98% of the singer/songwriters out there. The melody reminds me of Bertolt Brecht.

She's spectacular on SPECTACLE. With Steve Nieve backing her on piano and Elvis Costello on guitar it's pretty hypnotic.
