Hodgetwins on Camping

A six-year-old boy was left with horrific injuries after being attacked by a mountain lion while on vacation with his family.

Rivers Hobbs was walking through Big Bend National Park in Texas with his parents when the big cat creeped up on him and 'clamped' onto his face.

The beast only released his bite when his father, Jason, stabbed it with his pocket knife.

The youngster is now recovering at home after receiving stitches for the wounds to his cheek.

Mr Hobbs, from Austin, Texas, told CBS7 how they had been walking on a pavement between a restaurant and a hotel near the Chisos Mountain Lodge where they were staying when the animal struck on Sunday.

He said: 'It had a hold of his face...the cat was clamped on his face. I reached down and got my knife out and stabbed the cat in the chest and it let go at that point. 'We're lucky he's walking away with scars and it didn't get him by the neck.'
