I am Palestine I am Israel

Penny Little of the Away Team wrote this in 2007, recorded the video using footage from Alternate Focus with permission and some of her own footage and images mixed in. This song is slated for the next Away Team album. The thought behind the song was that in order to have peace, someone needs to step up to the plate, to be willing to be the "first on the dance floor." The Sufi dancer represents the poetic and beautiful dance of spirit. In this video, Israeli children are throwing the stones at the Palestinian settlers. The situation in Palestine and Israel may seem far removed from our daily lives, but is ongoing and needs resolution. Can there be resolution if Palestine's Arab neighbors are unwilling to help, and Israel maintains their current policy? I don't have an answer, but I do know that peace is only possible if that is truly the motivation.

This is intractible. Palestine's Arab neighbors refuse to help, despite vast oil wealth. The hardline Israeli rightwing power elite don't want peace... ditto the US.. the conflict means big money for "defense" contractors. Meanwhile, ordinary Israelis live in fear of martyrs, and ordinary Palestinians are terrified of being kicked out of their homes by the IDF, having their villages, farms and orchards destroyed.
