i think i like the Spyder 3 Artic better after watching this video. It comes with a focusing lens that attaches to it i think.

stupid question I guess but can it turn on your grill if your ignitor isn't working anymore, instead of using a long match?

@potcoog Nope. Igniting gas takes a spark with a much higher temp. The laser is impressive, but realistically it is only a few hundred degrees. Sort of like focusing sunlight with a magnifying glass. I suppose you could light a match with the laser then use that to light your grill.

@jackzalenski84 - It's just a cheap plastic jeweler's loupe I had in my junk drawer. Don't remember where I got it. Any standard convex magnifying glass will work.

Try not to use a magnifying lense for we can understand the true power and capabilities of the spartan.

@quinntiti : Furthermore, the long distance match light, popsicle-stick burn-through and CD case cut would not have been possible without the lens.
