They are totally useless in a collision. Don't believe me? ask the manufacturers.Motorists pass closer to helmeted riders making collision more likely. The test with the plate & melon is applicable to pedestrians while standing or car drivers. No force or speed factor at all.Helmets for pedestrians? Try impact at 20mph with a car. Cycling is not dangerous. The motor industry has an interest in making it seem so. It's why they promote bike lids.

Bike trains work best with two adults: one to ride at the front of the group to set the pace and make go/no go decisions at intersections; the other rides behind all the kiddos to observe and enforce safe riding behavior. If only one adult is available, as in this video, he/she should be behind all the riders. If needed, they can speed up and ride to the left of the group to address safety and behavior concerns.
