Monk Ringing a Bell

I moved to Kure, Japan, and right outside my balcony is a little samurai house with a bell on top. Way back in the day, a monk used to come up and ring the bell to tell the people from the mountains that it was time to stop working and come home. Now, they still ring it at 6pm everyday.

I'm not sure why the sound of the bell doesn't quite match up with the motion of ringing it. I think it echoed down the alley.
