Our documentary focuses upon the impact the remarkable company, Toms Shoes, is having upon globalization. We chose to explore how the company's innovative business model, known as One for One, has completely revamped the traditional business model and encourages consumers to actively participate in becoming part of a global cause. Through our research, we also discovered how great an impact such a business model is having upon consumers, companies, and needy children in impoverished situations. Also in this documentary, we explain how Toms Shoes is an extremely socially and culturally conscious company that not only simply gives children shoes, but they also consider the social and cultural ramifications of such an act: such as constructing an appropriate shoe design or providing schools to areas knowing that in giving shoes, the children will be able to attend school and therefore receive the prosperous gift of education. We found information about the success of the company and the One for One campaign from the Toms Shoes website and various newspaper and magazine articles, as well as from interviewing Auburn University students. It is interesting to see the far-reaching effects this company has upon diverse groups of people. Finally, we explore how in only four years, Toms Shoes has had unprecedented retail success and success in raising awareness of a current issue and has actually taken tremendous steps in attempting to lessen the problem. We find it encouraging that in light of Blake Mycoskie's intelligent business model, many other companies and designers either want to take part in the One for One movement or adopt it into their companies. We hope that through this documentary that viewers will be as impressed with this company as we and perhaps even consider buying a pair of Toms Shoes, knowing that with every pair purchased, Toms will give a pair of new shoes to a child in nee
