Dirk Gently, coming soon to BBC Four.

Stephen Mangan stars as Douglas Adams' Holistic detective Dirk Gently who operates based on the fundamental interconnectedness of all things. • @liquidpi It's an adaption. Live a little.

  • I'm sorry but at no point in the two books does Dirk ever go nuts like this. If you want to understand the books and the characters in them then you only need to listen to the audio books narrated by Douglas Adams himself. This is just horrible and has convinced me not to watch the series since the people in charge clearly don't care about the source material.

  • He doesn't look or act anything like I pictured Dirk Gently. But hey, it's an adaptation. I'm willing to live a little.

  • God, some people will never be happy.

  • I hope they bring this to the U.S.

  • Overall, the episode was great though in my opinion. They're making more I think

  • This isn't funny.

  • very, very gay.

  • I have seen only the first episode, and I must say that I'm a huge Douglas Adams fan and have read all his books many times. I didn't really recognize the character, and the storyline. But I definitely thought this was in the spirit of Adams. The humour and the peculiarity of his books is preserved. Well done BBC. Now when and where can I buy the DVD?

  • does anyone else thing he looks like Josh Radnor.

I know this may be nit-picking, but hes not ugly enough to play Dirk. I agree that Nick Frost would have been a better choice.

  • Well this is all wrong, horribly wrong. I shouldn't "live a little" if tv producers did thier job and came up with origonal material rather then digging up and ruining cult classics.
