I worked at Larrivee Guitars from September 1998 until March 2008. This video was made to be a training video for new employees but it was never used. The video is demonstrating the neck carving techniques used by Larrivee Guitars. I (Brian Trepanier http://www.trepaning.com ) did the co-scripting, filming, video and audio editing, and compositing. Voice and actual neck carving is performed by Marc Thibeault of Rayco Resophonics, makers of world class resophonic guitars http://www.rayco.ca .

  • I spent alot of years carving necks at Larrivee and only saw this video now. When I left Larrivee, that sanding block was about half the thickness from all the years of wear and tear.

That's pretty much exactly how I was doing it my last day at work there. Thanks for posting this! I think that might be Simon doing the carving.

  • @05rsx my tip is be careful when sanding do not sand the fret board, and mesure before you sand to ensure it is at the right shape for you....its easy enough but if you sand right passt the finish you will have to replace that to...also once you sand you will gety a dull look, polish to get rid of that (no wax as that will wreak it).

  • mahogany

  • What kind of wood is that neck?

  • good guitars

  • Intersting,I want to shave down a electric neck to be more comfortable, its a cheap enough guitar so Im looking for info on how to do it properly
