  • Each blade is 6 tons and costs millions. I certainly wouldn't want to be manning the crane on such a windy day!!!

  • @tidewater every day is windy its a wind farm lol

  • @tidewater millons? the whole turbine itself usually costs millions. a single blade is around the 300 000USD mark for an 80meter blade

  • @tidewater Its always a windy day where you guild wind turbines, that is the point, There, you wont get a calm day lol

  • Wind speed must be max 10m/sec. i average when erecting turbines

  • There is a lightning diverter system in most modern blades.... The receiver is located in the tip of the blade and is connected to the ground via a cable that has been build into the blade

  • lightning rod?

They might have to place it pretty high, but it might decrease the need of structural/blade repairs

  • it was a vary bad-windy day
