    Another thing I forgot to tell you, I got zap on this due to grounding problem and since then I stop playing on it. I did use PSpice simulation (dual SCR inverter) and it was good.

    When I was a kid I had ADHD without knowing about it. Now I'm a full blown ADD and still have a hard time organizing my work area. What's your secret?

    I play the piano to release some of my brain activities but the funny thing is I never had a formal school is reading notes.

  • True. Also, some digital camera with auto-focus may not like being near the X-ray tube - the CCD chips may still be able to see X-ray energy, thus throwing the microcontroller chip astray, thus messing focus up every times the X-ray tube fires.

    Also, it's good that you have used phosphor (scinillator) sheet - safety-wise... I was wondering what kind of scinillator would be best and how cheap can they get? ( O_O Some aren't...)

  • OK. I got my green fluoroscopic screen from surplus. Anyway one time I was working with a Lorad mammography (24Kvp) and used a RM screen - cassette to check (green sensitive) for x-ray emission and what I got was a brown illumination instead of green and it was my first time to see this. Later on I found out the I had only 12Kvp instead of 24Kvp due to a control problem. Since then I could add that crystals do reacts differently below 22Kvp. Would you have any documents on this? If none!!

  • I'm getting some soon. But also I will have to finish building an inverter that I have just started gathering parts for. I'm planning to make my very own X-ray laser, so I figure I should build a power supply (in term of power conservation and safety) - for safety, it would have PIC24HJ flash microcontroller overseeing everything going on in the inverter.

    So, if everything goes well, I would gladly post a link for you and the others to see.

    I worked with different LINAC's (up to 25Mv) except for Electa and loves to tune waveguide and never use a stupid video camera when trouble shooting for loose connections or pcb but I personally goes inside the treatment room with beam-on (closed jaws. Of course nobody would like to come with me inside especially our medical physicist.

  • Still interesting. But if you still want to work with that, be careful not to get into its line-of-sight. If the unit's shielded behind thick Lead alloy, then it may be okay.

    Still, remember that the more voltage the harder the X-ray emission get. If your inverter stuffs like, 100 Kilovolts AC into small X-ray tube, then 5-mm Lead shield would be useless. (Better to invest in 1 to 3 inches thick Lead alloy shield. Of course, I have worked with that before.)
