  • @gmacdonald87: Your question is still on topic since it deals with the aftermath of Plantinga's critique. It's hard to say what exactly a belief would be if Plantinga is right (and if naturalism is true). Besides being complex webs of neurons firing in response to stimuli (external or internal), I suppose it all depends on how beliefs are defined along with free will. But as a whole, naturalists are divided on whether it is beliefs that cause behavior or behavior that causes belief.

  • Actually, on further thought, I don't think that my question does relate to the EAAN argument. My question has to do with why there might be consciousness (e.g. beliefs) given naturalism not with why there might be true beliefs given naturalism and evolution. So, I guess you can give a crack at it but I don't think that I was right in assuming that my earlier question was related to the EAAN argument.

  • hey, that was a really well informed response. It looks like you have the EAAN argument pretty well understood. To that end I have a question related to the argument that I was hoping you could help me on. Why is there such a thing as a belief on the naturalistic model of evolution? It seems to serve no function if the model, described by Plantinga, is correct. Is he rightly describing the model? Does the model provide reason(s) for the existence of belief?

  • To me, it's amazing how badly people get Plantinga's arguments. What's worse is they put their so-called "refutation" out there for all to see, not knowing that they have only embarrassed themselves with such awful and cheesy remarks.
