I really can't get enough of Shadow. Him and Krush get me through the day. Crazy DJs.

of course, it's his right to change his styles, doesn't mean we have to like it... sue me.

@odantoro Dude, thank you so much! I think you are right, I found another video here where he says "The beat!" in his distinctive way. I was at a comedy show where one girl was reading from Jeff Godwin's "The Devil's Disciples" and he used a bunch of the same phrases and logic, so I thought that was it, but his voice is not nearly as interesting as Van Impe's.

@AaronfromQueens I can't say for sure, but it sounds like it might be Dr. Jack Van Impe in his younger days.

@ascentuk This is actually a sample of a real christian preacher preaching about how evil this type of music is :) I found it online once but cant for the life of me find it again. Dr James Mcallister i think.

fucking love this track ... anyone know where the vocal part is from would like to use it in one of my own psy trance tracks

DJ shadow was awesome in his trip-hop days

@JohnBadgerager well, let me put it this way.
if a restaurant puts your favourite dish on the menu. it's delicious. but then they change cooks, and the recipe changes with it. and the dish gets tasteless and way too salty.
that's the taste his new music left in my mouth. not a magnificent juicy steak. but a well done shoe sole with a side dish of salt. personal opinion of course.
it just feels like he traded in his identity, for something fake and generic .
building steam with a grain of salt

@leeperryismerry he went to crap when outsider went out but new album will be great i heard 3tracks and its sound like old shadow we all love and on live perfomrances he is playing awsome stuff,i always will love shadow no matter what :)

Does anyone know where the vocal sample comes from? I've heard Kid Koala and a Chicago producer called Instigator use the same source.
everyone hates on shadow for his new stuff.
as he said, are you a fan of the album or the artist?

Personally, I am a fan of the song, but it made me interested in Dj Shadow in general.
I can't really argue though since I only know the old stuff, and I like pretty much most of that.
No idea about the new stuff, sorry, heh.
