As an atheist, I have found this video to be a great insight into how the Bible and it's writing are viewed by historians and Christians alike. I often disagree with WLC, but this is a very interesting video!

Actually, all of the New Testament documents--even by the most liberal standards of textual dating--are dated within the 1st Century, putting the authors of those documents within 1, or at the most, 2 generations of Jesus himself, including all the people who would have been following Him. The nearness of the actual writings of the NT to the historical events they describe is actually remarkable by ancient historical standards. Jesus being a 'myth' is a new hypothesis w/o proof

so why did Jesus not leave any "written" or PHYSICAL proof of his existance? if he knew he was "saving man-kind" then why didnt he find a way to leave some proof of his doings?

@Grambo4 5. gospels do not agree w known facts Mathew "...while Herod the great ruled" Luke "...when Quirinius was governor of Syria during the first census" Historical fact: Herod died 4 BCE and the census took place 6-7 CE Even the accounts on the resurrection are contradictory: mathew 28 mark 16 luke 24 john 20,21 act 1:3-12 1 Cor 15:3-8 ...plus many more examples. as far as point 8, ill get back to you on that i need to look for it. but yeah NT scholars are mostly christian and agree.

If you're going to make giant, sweeping statements like "the gospels do not agree w[ith] known facts", could you at least try to make some qualification as to what you are talking about? I'd like to ask the same for your 8th point: how many bible scholars is "many"? And how many of those are actually Christians? btw/ Luke, who wrote both the Gospel of Luke, and the Acts of the Apostles, has been noted for accurate history + representing the culture of his day well.

1. resurrection is an extraordinary event

2. extraordinary events needs extraordinary evidence

3. the gospels are not reliable history

4. the gospels accounts shows sings of myth

5. gospels do not agree w known facts

6. no witness wrote of the resurrection

7. no non biblical source accounts for resurrection

8. many bible scholars (most are Christians themselves) agree w 3-7

1-2 are my points, the rest is actually history lol
