#3 Chicago Morgan Park utilized a fierce 9-0 run in the final 1:30 of the game to overcome a one-point deficit, and defeat #9 Homewood-Flossmoor 62-54 at The Chicago Public Schools Holiday Showcase on Sunday night at Chicago State University.
The Mustangs trailed 54-53 with 85 seconds left, but Louisville recruit Wayne Blackshear, playing in front of his future coach Rick Pitino, blocked a shot and the Vikings missed their final five attempts, including a breakaway layup attempt with 32 seconds left.
The Blackshear blocked shot, a three-point basket by Morgan Park guard Jerome Brown (UIC), and a three-point play by Russell Smith were all a part of the late run that sparked Morgan Park's win. Blackshear led Morgan Park with 15 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists, and 6 blocked shots. Brown added 12 points, all from behind the arc. They were backed up by a strong team effort including another strong effort from sophomore star Markee Williams who continues to impress with his ability to run a team. Recorded on December 5, 2010 using a Flip Video camcorder.
