LISTEN TO THIS IN THE DARK WITH THE VOLUME TURNED UP!

Please let me know if you know what this piece is, because I posted the name incorrectly - it is now confirmed as NOT being 'La Mélodie Intérieure'.

I fell in awe with this work immediately, partly because of the power of the organ in the shattering climax of the piece.

The organ is here played by one of St Sulpice's titular organists, Daniel Roth.

Enjoy!

  • to clear all confusion: I own this CD and this is Jean-Jaques Grunenwalds "Tu es Petrus" played by Daniel Roth in St. Sulpice!

  • @Egestus18 I had thought that it was a Grunenwald piece originally, but then I read the sleeve notes from my own copy of the disc and the piece I was hearing didn't correspond to what I was reading in the sleeve notes, so that's why I became confused. Most seem to think it is a Daniel Roth improvisation. If you have the score of 'Tu es Petrus' by Grunenwald, that would clear everything up I think!

    Thanks.

  • I actually own the score to this Grunenwald work, and this performance here is definitely NOT that piece at all. Just to alleviate any confusion.

  • @originaltommy Many thanks for your advice - I will amend the video accordingly. Do you have any idea what this piece actually is?

    Best.

  • where can i get a copy of this wonderful recording? o and thank you for this wonderful video.

  • @ThePipeorganman Hi there - I bought this CD in St Sulpice when I visited Paris a number of years ago.

Someone has since posted a comment suggesting that this piece is not, in fact, by Grunenwald, but I do not have any scores to cross-check it against and no-body has confirmed that it is not by Grunenwald.

I'm glad you enjoyed this piece nonetheless!

  • @4candles do you think they labeled the CD wrong?... dont have the score, no :/

  • In my ears it definitely sounds like roth, improvisation or maybe a composition, I can't say.

  • Hi there I had once commented on your video and i think this might be discouraging but the more i think about this wonderful piece the more i am think its and improvisation and i don't know if that's correct but after being and organist for 15 years and hearing almost every piece there is and i have been looking in my archives for a couple of months to find out what song this is. I swear it might be one of those things that could be right under my nose. I will continue to look in to this.
