A great video. Thanks for this. I came to Vietnam in Jan 1988. I own a business in Sagion. I entered RMC Duntroon in 1969. I graduated into the artillery (I08 Fd Bty, 4 Fd Regt, Townsville) at the end of 1972, after 4 years of training to go to Vietnam, just in time to miss the War (and to enter a useless peacetime army). I did later serve 2 peacekeeping tours, but hardly the same. I finally left the army after 16 years' regular service, mostly with the mighty Aust Int Corps.

After French lost DienBienPhu in 1954, HoChiMinh opened Land Reform in 1955, Ho bastard killed 750,000 innocent civilians, because they were rich, vast land, big house and gold. Later uncle HoChiMinh pushed one million young men to fright in the South, during TET 1968 Ho ordered to kill and bury a live 5,000 Hue citizens.

Anyone who served in that war from Australia has my eternal respect.
I served at that time in the RA Inf, but never got to the sharp end, although I sure tried.
We all owe those men and woman the respect they deserve and did not receive from Australian governments, especially Labor governments and the unions who refused to even send them food, ammo and their mail.

born in 58...I was too young for the call up for Vietnam. but I still remember the news items each night about our brave guys in vietnam. My dad having been through WW2 was a little anti we kids watching that stuff at the time but taught me to have the utmost respect for our arm services people. I still carry that respect.

@bmgtz unfortunately the news media in aus was as bad as the USA was, it made out that all kinds of atrocities and other stuff went on , the civillian population had no fear of 99.9% of any side but there own as is the case in every war/conflict , not all were as called in aus national servicemen , but as the USA was you will find there was more regulars there
