Hilda Wu has been a public health nurse working in the TB Clinic for more than 25 years. Her commitment to public health and to the community shows every day. Her services have helped in the reduction of TB cases in Boston. When one family was unable to attend TB clinic sessions because of illness, Hilda did homes visits that enabled their child to complete preventive therapy. She leaves no stone unturned in meeting the needs of persons with TB whether it is contacting a hospital in China to arrange the transfer of care, delivering nutrition supplements for the directly observed therapy or advocating for needed and timely services such as clinic referrals and diagnostic tests. She advocates for her patients, many of whom are cultural and linguistic minorities (frequently Asian), and gets them successfully through the many months of TB treatment that is required. Please join me in congratulating Hilda on this well deserved Outstanding Performance Award.
