1st the president didn't call the police stupid, he said they acted stupidly. After the police looked @ his I.D that should have been all, the police should have left. I beleive the officer was mad because he did have the creditial's he said he had. Disorderly conduct? How about you leave my house & make everything better. No way should he have been arrested. very succinct. the officer approached his job professionally, entering a potentially dangerous situation. gates copped a racialized, disrespectful, very elitist, entitled 'tude. the officer in turn performed a petty, vengeful arrest, which is what most cops would do and i understand that. i certainly would not have spoken to the officer that way. always speak respectfully to cops. the cop did nothing even vaguely racist and would have done the exact same thing if the perps had been white.
