Tonight, in a display of Christmas cheer, Occupy Medford brought our unique brand of caroling to Wal-Mart on Crater Lake Avenue. Fourteen occupiers converged together next to cheap sweatshop garments and lead-based toys to sing protest songs against corruption and greed. Our one wish for this holiday season: that the New Year might bring a world without a corporation that outsources manufacturing jobs to China, keeps workers living at the poverty line, and decimates small businesses. Of course we cannot forget that Wal-Mart does give back as well, in the form of 1.5 million dollars to our elected officials between July and October of 2011.* Happy holidays from all of us at Occupy Medford to all of our neighbors in the Rogue Valley. Here's to a government by the people, for the people, and an end to corporate corruption for the new year.
Awesome idea!
