Lifesaver 5K

What is the value of a nurse? If you or a loved one has ever been sick or hospitalized, then you know the answer— they are invaluable. Unfortunately, by 2012, it's said that the nursing shortage in Oklahoma alone will be more than 3000. Much of this shortage comes from the lack of financial support for students to complete nursing programs.

The Lifesaver 5K and 1Mile Fun Run offers individuals seeking financial support an opportunity to receive scholarships. The Jamison Watters Scholarship is one of the first scholarships organized through the OCCC Nursing Student Association. Two-year-old Jamison lost his battle to leukemia last year while his mother was in nursing school. In his honor, the scholarship has been created to help students who are interested in pursuing a career in pediatrics or pediatric oncology.

Support the nursing department at OCCC, get information on health matters, and participate in the activities planned for the day.
