Another Californication intro

John and Flea, live at Rock in Rio (03.06.2006). This Californication intro is a bit different, even dissonant at some point, but it's still fine and beautiful. By the way, John is using two different strats instead of white falcon in this song.

Those are two different types of bass. A lot of it comes from the bridge he's using. He can get realllly low action without losing a lot of note quality. It's technique too, he's playin pretty hard here. It's a "Modulus Funk Unlimited" bass, if you're interested. Not to spam, but if you check my videos and look for my cover of "Permutation" you can hear how close you can get to that poppy tone.

@deadfredshead I think it's because he plucks the strings closer to the back end to make it sound like he's picking. hope that helps

how to does flea get that sharp popping sound ? is it pickups/ strings or eq ? i know its played by the bridge but i cant get that sound with my j bass
