Working on technique and swing speed using principles taught by the legendary Mike Austin. This swing registered 112mph on my radar. I started this quest last summer. Recently hit my first 300 yard drive using this method. Not bad for a 51 year old woman who's only played golf for a few years!

  • Good swing. Can be improved with more left arm extension at the top of the backswing (i.e. right elbow further from the body) and more pivot motion. This would result in more power with the same effort. Just an observation.

  • Agree with you molam1 and have been working on exaclty that. Very good observation! Like I said, it's a work in progress. I've had my 2 longest drives recently, one 323 with no dog leg and one 354 with a slight dog leg.

  • In my opinion the transition with the hips is the secret and the flexion of the right arm in the backswing also.

Do you know Thomas Dang and what is your handicap please?

  • Don't know Thomas Dang personally, only from the (now defunct) Mike Austin website. You are correct about the hips and arm. My handicap is a 10 and going down. I play from the men's tees or the tips. No lady or senior tee boxes for me. Really the short game needs more attention, but I just love to hit the long ball.

  • Very good swing, it's a perfect golf swing.

Who taught you the MA swing or which DVD saw you to learn the Mike Austin swing?

  • I first bought the Dan Shauger book & DVD, "How to Kill the Ball" and "21st Century Swing". Then I got Mike Dunaway's DVD called "Secrets from the Games Longest Hitter". I subsequently met a man at my driving range who is also a Mike Austin swing guy. He's been helpful to me as well. I just started less than a year ago, so I have plenty to learn still, but thank you for the oompliment!

  • look at dan shauger he great teaches had lesson with dan i hit the golf ball straight down line now thank dan

  • Your swing is so much better now than the dream sequence...feet were much to wide and knees much too flexed...you looked so off balance. Add a bit more piviot on the backswing and toe drag on the follow through and you'll have the Mike Austin swing.

  • if you don't already compete in long drive then you should give it a go, good swing

  • On the backswing, to enhance the pivot motion, just lift your right heel a little more allowing the right knee to move closer under your chin. That should do the trick with the pivot. As for the left arm, it takes a little practice to break a habit. Keep it up, it looks good.

  • What a great swing! Not just powerful but technically sound as well!
