  • The early recordings of the guy who would later became famous as Robert John (The Lion Sleeps Tonight", 1971; "Sad Eyes", 1979). Just thought you'd might like to know....

  • Interesting, I didn't know that. Thanks.

  • @Ezdduf4kuZ Bobby Pedrick, Jr., was only 12 years old when he did this song.

  • This country song reminds me of Patsy Cline, Brenda Lee and Wanda Jackson all rolled into one. The guys got a higher pitched voice something like that of the lead singer of the 70's band "Supertramp". I mustn't forget Franki Vali and Maurice Gibb too with very high voices, well above those of Bobby Pedrick Jr. We currently have a very popular Justine Bieber with a similiar situation, but in his case he still has some growing up to do. I like this song alto I've never heard it before.THX

  • The song was written by the popular NYC team of Doc Pomus & Mort Shuman.

  • He almost sounds like a younger Buck Owens. Awesome!

  • What is Robert John doing these days ? Is he still recordng or involved in the music business ?

Sad Eyes was a classic !

    Billy....................

  • ..and a white 10 gallon hat.

  • Now Sir B...you should have just asked your cousin in Texas!!!

Wayne Shapiro (PS: If you should need some white bucks or saddles...I have a closet full!!!)

  • Been looking for this song for years - heard it on the radio once in the 70s. Thought it was called "...tuxedo and a white sports coat", but that only got me Marty Robins... Great tune driven along by that great bouncing bass. Many thanks.

  • Thanks Barry, I never knew the singer was the same.

Still wearing White Bucks and Saddle Shoes in TEXAS!!! THANKS FOR POSTING!!! What a voice.

  • do you have maybe by bobby pedrick
