Plug in Prius is better than the Chevy Volt IMO... I can appreciate the Nissan leaf for what it is, but it is not pracitcal

@2bRealist meh... we got the leaf.... had not issues... saved 60 bucks in the first week

The Toyota Prius and the Chevy Volt are the same in terms of MPG. The Prius can achieve 45MPG on Hybrid-Electric Mode. The Volt can go 35 Miles on Pure Battery-Elec. Make your pick, their both good cars.

8 hours to charge...65 mile range...High price tag for a small cramped car...unable to fully supply heat during cold weather. No thanks.

@highflyer4 No, the change is gradual, the infrastructure builds up as well as new power plants with less percentage for coal. Renewable energy also gets more and more percentage. Also one interesting fact is that most EV users charge it overnight when is low consumption of electricity overall. Keep in mind that almost everything today runs on electricity and it will be really long time before the EV charging will have any significance on the grid. By that time smart grid will be deployed.

dude just get a kei car.

@goneutt 90% of the taxi's here in Vancouver are hybrids...just makes sence to have a fuel efficient car if you drive around all day in the city in one.

too bad electric cars are only viable in small amounts, if the amount sold gets too large the pressure put on the power grid would be too much and casue a total failure. Its will be the east coast black out all over again. Also the fact that most of the worlds energy comes from coal plants, doesnt make it a green alternative anyway. Plus battery disposal etc. Cool concept just not a viable alternative in the long run.
Well I guess we can just wait till gas hits double digits O_o
