USCG public affairs and recruiting could learn something here. Show the tough and exciting side of the service mixed with a few rescues of children and poof- more respect and honor come bouncing back in higher amounts. Regular Citizens have a vague perception the CG does a great job. This makes your service very special.

My husband was stationed on the USCGC Chase for a year. He went to Alaska during a storm and his boat ended up being a part of a rescue mission for those crab fishers out there. He got to meet the guys from the Time Bandit and saved men from another boat that isn't on the show. Now we are in Virginia... he's thankfully stationed on land, lol... Semper Paratus!
