The first fight is proof enough that a back-up weapon, while often not used, is always a good idea.

Some of those are EMP rules which are much looser and allow for a lot more to happen than SCA. Hence the rougher look. I find the EMP style a lot more enjoyable because it feels more like a fight.

So was the marshal watching the fight or was it three new members out there, looked more like a school yard fight to me.

Hmmm, it was pointed out to me after that fight that I had my sword in my hand the whole time and could have been wailing away on him with it. Live and learn I guess, got caught up in it all and didn't realize that punchs don't have to count as blows. Still a lot of fun.
