  • yeah i'm german.

of course the dialogs arent the only good thing.

there are many reasons: at first i'm history interested and a Lovecraft fan too. Second is the good equipment and of course that the TYW is a total underrepresented time in the medias0

  • @klappspatenkamikaze

Interested in the thirty year's war AND Lovecraft! Well, then you are one of the few we made the film for (besides ourselves).

Thanks for the kind words on the equipment, we put down a lot of work and money on costume and props. (and more will be seen in upcoming "12 pund" where there will be 13 characters instead of 6 in Forlorn Hope) I agree with you that the TYW is a period rarely seen in films. But we are trying to change that :)

    /Marko

  • @matchlockfilm It's great that you spend so much effort in it, but i don't think that you can make, what i want to see at most: A big scale 17th century battle with pike squares n stuff. Alatriste was nice, but too short. I'd love to see the raw brutal warfare of this period on screen

  • @klappspatenkamikaze

Ha. You just wait... (a few years) and then we will be there.

    :)

  • awesome.

especially i like the German bits you threw in the conversation

  • @klappspatenkamikaze

    Many thanks, klappspatenkamikaze.

I guess you have to be german or swedish to notice it.

It felt historically accurate to have the swedish soldiers using some german, especially the officer.

  • I agree, discussing details is fun.

In this scene we wanted the burning matches and the smoke inside the house for aesthetic reasons.

As we discussed this scene we also reasoned that the soldiers didn't put away their muskets, or any equipment. Tthat's why they also have their backpacks inside the house. They had to bring the muskets along and, even in a house it's nice to be able to have the first shot with a large caliber gun, and then use it as a club or draw the blade.

  • Yeah, I know its only a small detail, but debatining minutae is fun;) I actualy dont think there was that much clearing of buildings in the modern sense unless it was taking a city through assault, and that would use mostly melee weapons I think. However, if the soldiers have survived an assault, they would be some tough customers. Well, this is nittpicking in the exteme on my part, was still very enjoyeble as I said.

  • Thanks meanmanturbo.

And swedish army training, well, we wanted to get a feeling that the swedish soldiers were experienced and knew what they were doing. Knew how to "take" a house. But still in a 17th century fashion. I think it worked fine but you may have a point there. ;-)

Anyway, I'm glad you watched and enjoyed it.

    /Marko

  • Quite enjoyeble I must say! Only thing that botherd me was that the modern swedish army training was shining through when the soldiers were handeling their matchlocks, especialy indoors;) Otherwisa a great watch.
