http://www.paulgriggs.com On 2nd November 1992 I spent 2hours on the footplate of "The Flying Scotsman" 4472 at Tysley, birmingham. It was a driving experience which cost £95, money well spent. There were three of us on the footplate with a trained driver taking it in turns to drive. The driver was a staunch GWR man and said that the "Scotsman" should be cut up for razor blades. We threatened to throw him off.

It was an amazing experience and I had a stupid grin on my face for at least a week. http://www.diaryofamusician.com

  • My life will not be complete until I go to England and see this loco!

Wish she was in BR Brunswick Green, not LNER Apple green though.

  • Cut up for razor blades my foot! I love both LNER and GWR locomotives alike, I'm not a big fan of the Southern Railway style though. Cut up all that metal in Sussex instead.

  • LUCKY
