Created on March 15, 2010.

Wrote this last night at work. Came home, finished it, and recorded it.
That's why I didn't shave.
;)

Rough draft. Might make it a song or something. That would be fun.

Here's an up to date written version:

Ode to Nothing: A Poem About Nothing.

Yesterday I thought a thought,
If "thought" you it could call,
For twas a thought of... nothing!
Which is not a thought at all. :)

I was thinking and not thinking.
Not an easy thing to do.
I suppose that... I'm a genius!
And to think, I never knew.

Perhaps now I should study;
Study "NOTHING" till I become
An expert on the subject,
So I will not be dumb.

Then I could teach you "nothing,"
Until nothing fills your brain.
And since nothing is not offensive,
No one would complain.

Since I first thought of nothing,
It's strange that it should be,
It bothers me all the time! Yes,
Nothing worries me.

So, I guess I never worry then.
No, I never have a care.
Nothing has become my friend,
One that's never there.

When I have need of nothing,
And nothing comes to me,
It leaves me wanting something.
But nothing comes for free.

I should get paid for nothing.
But no one sees it's worth.
But I'm really on to something,
Nahhh... I'll stick to "nothing" first.

It never occurred to me before,
That that which is defined,
As not existing does not exist,
Even in my mind.

I never think of nothing being
At any time or place,
Or existing in any real way,
In any sort of case.

So simple an observation,
Yet, so simply profound!
With astonishing implications,
That cannot be unsound.

I always think of something,
A being that persists,
Eternally and everywhere.
It simply MUST exist.

Just as it's "nothing's" nature,
And essence to not-be,
So "something's" nature is to exist,
Necessarily!

There is no kind of real being,
That in it is not found,
For it cannot, at all, not-be,
It's being, pure, unbound.

All my thoughts are of this being,
For nothing is never thought,
This being to which my life is owed,
Whether I believe, or not.

Can being ever once not be?
Is all we know dismissed?
Let us think that ALL is "nothing,"
If God might not exist.
