NHL Habs Gm 3 Mayhem Begins @ Flyers 04/28/08

Game 3 in Philadelphia, at 17:55 (2:05) in the 2nd Period, Flyers #27 Steve Downie (intentionally or not) trips Habs goalie Carey Price and sets off a powder keg. Was it retaliation for #24 Sami Kapanen being tripped up on the way down the ice, no one knows except Downie. These teams are already at each other's throats, but this lights the short fuse. Third Period, Price is pulled from goal as the Habs are down 3-0 (there will be no more goals by the Flyers).Then as Flyers #20 R.J. Umberger is tripped up, behind the goal at the same moment, Habs #51 Francis Bouillon is run into the boards by Flyers #2 Derian Hatcher, leading eventually to 5 minute major on Hatcher. This leads to two goals and a very encouraged Habs team down the stretch now being down by only one goal. Flyers win and take a 2-1 lead in the series.

Difference in the series is summed up in one word - Goaltending. Biron is playing very well, and Price just sucks right now...

The 4 things which lead you to winning or losing these series is 1) Goalie. 2) Defense. 3) Scoring. And the unfortunate last 4) Ref. The last one should never be a factor, but they are human, and tend to err, just not as much as us arm-chair centers. I am looking forward to whatever team comes out of this to play my Pens. BUT, we have to win 4 first.

RJ8812 - We finished 1st in the conference and we weren't that good? We compltely outplayed the Flyers and Biron bailed you out. Go take a look at the scoring chances and past stats on the series. We killed the Flyers on every aspect except goaltending.
