Monster Hunter Tri How to farm for Rustshards a small tutorial video

Hello ladies and gentleman if you are watching this video it means you want to know how to farm for rustshards to get those oh so special rust weapons right?

Small list of things you will need.

Armour with Gathering +2, Divine Whim, Speed Gatherer and if possible Heat cancel [Lo]

Items:

5 iron pickaxes
5 mega pickaxes
3 cool drinks (unless you have heat cancel low)

The quest?
Roll the Uroktor can be done online and offline and is a rather easy quest. Do beware that the online quest has a wandering Urugaan making your life more difficult. But it also nets better rewards.

The route?

Go from 1 - 3 - 5 - 8 - 9 - 10 - 5 and stay in 5 untill you want to leave again.

The nodes in 5 respawn after aprox 5 minutes be sure to keep your cool drinks up.

i went all out on the gathering bonuses, i not only put them on the armor, but also on my Tenebra and one of my gems that has 2 slots so 10 Gathering +2 ive got like +32 gathering woundering if this makes a difference im about to go make my first run so i guess ill find out, thanks alot for the vid, very helpfull =)

@cerberus856 sorry for the late reply (I dont use this channell anymore DonYawnful is the place to go now) But +32 does not matter haha. You only need to activate the +2 gathering to make it work to the fullest trust me.

Also if you go online, Yuo'll have a 50% increase for rustshards, and maybe youll get lucky and get an anchient shard now and then! :) have fun and hope my advice helped. If you cant get online, then this is your only hope

@FyreFrenzy9 That's false FyreFrenzy ;) there is no increase in shards offline or online. The problem is the only way to get ANCIENTSHARDs is online. Same with all other high rank materials. Thanks for trying to provide information though.

I need help, i mine for rustshards and i think i found about ten but all i get is iron+ weapons. Do I have to keep searching to find the better rustshard weapons?

If you wear full leather (which has 5 gem slots) and gem in 2 gathering (not speed gather) jewels, and one whim jewel, you get gathering +2,divine whim, and speed gathering. If you want heat cancel (low), put 2 breeze jewels in the 2 open slots you have to then put 3 more into a 3 slot weapon. The easiest way to get a 3 slot weapon is using a bowgun.

This set up gives you 3 slots and can be made easily, but it isn't very useful for fighting.

Stock: Light bowgun

Any frame:

Barrel: Jaggid Fire

@TonberryDon accally FyreFrenzy is right most players end up noticing an increase in RustShards online than offline and AncientShards is only online but RustShards do have an increase in chance

I want the rusted lance. I got 5 rust shards in the past day and they were all Iron Lance+'s, the game is purposely taunting meh.

It's so annoying:

1. Getting rustshards is hard

2. Once you have them, the chance they turn into a rusted weapon aren't very large

3. Even though you get a rusted weapon, it might be a weapon you never use (had it with 2 GS)

Finally got a rusted hammer yesterday on phantom ura, very nice :)

Rustshard farming is kinda stupid once you reach high rank and start ancientshard farming.

And at the end of the Diablos quest you gain also Rustshards.

You have no Rustweapons ? have 3 Rusted weapons from 4 rustshards.
