There's a much easier way that requires no ActionScript code and just a couple of lines of JavaScript. It doesn't track custom events, but it gives you all the normal information like page views, traffic sources, bounce rate, time spent, popular pages and lots more.
I wrote a short tutorial on it. For some reason i'm not allowed to post a valid link here, but you can find it at ahrengot(dot)com/tutorials/goo

Man. The camera work in this video is really distracting. Shop shaking and snapping the zoom.

You know Google, put it in plain English with a SIMPLE example, so we can all understand it.

hmmmm..... how about assuming we know nothing and explaining what we need to do....
-
its sad that they only implemented it on as 3.0 platform alone..

Yeah, I can't figure out why the event tracking is available yet, its been in beta in a great working form for like a year now, and still not out or even available... which is aggrivating considering between the sites I've tracked recently, there have been millions of hits among them... would be a good candidate for some beta loving...
Event tracking isn't available to all accounts yet. So not every site can track flash in this way. You guys really need to make this more clear to people its infuriating when we waste time because Google has neglected to mention that this feature is still in BETA.
My developers wasted 2 weeks trying to track events on one of our sites only to discover that...oh wait...Google needs to turn this feature on first - which isn't mentioned in the event tracking guide.

To be honest, if you don't understand this then you probably won't be using it anyways. The only people who would be using this are Flash developers, and this is very basic Actionscripting stuff for a Flash dev.
