Attaching a 433mhz antenna onto a remote cactus trigger. The flash trigger was purchased from ebay.

I test fired the trigger from over 100ft away using my Nikon D200 and a couple of different lenses to give an idea of how far away the flash actualy is.

This is an excelent alternative to pocket wizards and are often called poverty wizards

  • Hi great video. Is'nt a good idea to modify also the receiver?

  • I did not modify the antennas on the receivers, but I did do the "aa" battery modification to them. And have been really happy with the performance and reliability with the whole, trigger and recivers, system ever since.

  • I don't know the first thing about electronics, but is it necessary to have a 5.75" coil of wire?

  • I really dont know that much either, I do not think you HAVE to have that length of wire. Someone pointed out to me that having that longer wire only acts as a long leader and does not really count into the wave length of the antenna. But im more than happy with my results and if I were to do it again, I would use the same length of wire.

  • Thanks for the tip

  • Very nice.. Where did you get the antenna?

  • i opened mine up nd they seem to be slightly different, the board extends the whole size of the body of the transmitter and it has antenna extension on the board, seen this before?

  • Nice video!

  • Thank you. Just another thing! I can't find a so little SMA whip antenna, but just an helic antenna with a M4 mount. Do you think it could be work at same? Bye

  • the 5.75 inches of wire he adds is to make the entire antenna length 1/2 wavelength. The antenna itself is already 1/4 wavelength, and he's adding another 1/4 wavelength to make the total about 1/2 wavelength.

  • That's bad ass. Sweet.

  • Great vid, much appreciated! However i understand this mod improves distance but how about reliability? my trigger probably works 6 out of 10times now wich is very annoying. Did you notice any improved reliability with this mod?
