Hilary Hahn - Sibelius Violin Concerto (part 4)

This is the 3rd movement of Sibelius's Violin Concerto. I was lucky enough to catch this on a foreign channel several years ago.

She did rush just that little bit .But if you really play that part(triplets ,octaves ,etc), in tempo, it'll sound not that 'strong' as this sibelius concerto portrays a strong feeling-romantic/contempory style.

I think that Mutter's version of the concerto is much better, hahn is not really playing for every note.

about "who is the best": Maybe that's one of the best things in music, that there is no best. Theres is only really really good. For me it's really hard to decide between Kremer and Mutter who's better.

I absolutely love the way the conductor makes faces, especially at 5:17 or so. Hahn gives a very clean and beautiful performance... but sometimes I felt like she was rushing beats? Am I just imagining it?

I know what you mean...is it in the section where Hilary has the rising, rapid triplets? I think that she may be a bit ahead of the beats, but given the nature of the music in that context, it actually works quite well :)

Sarah Chang seems to do it aswell. Jaap van Zweden (conductor at the time) said something like it was the 'Juilliard way' of playing.
