The USF Trombone Choir, under the direction of Professor Tom Brantley, assisted the Tampa Rays in beating the Red Sox on September 2, 2009 by performing the National Anthem at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg. During the game, the USF Trombone Choir had VIP seats directly behind the Red Sox bullpen.
