Materials:
4 yards of stretch knit

Tools:
Sewing machine
Ball-point needles
Measuring Tape
Ruler
Scissors
Chalk
Pins

Measurements:
Circle Skirt: original square was 44" by 44". Once the waist was cut into the circle, the length of the skirt was about 17"

Waistband: mine was 24" x 10" (I made it really tight)

Straps: 20" x 90"
The straps should be 1.5 times your height. Really. (I am exactly 5 feet = 60 inches. 60 x 1.5 = 90. I think.)
Sew the straps along the same seam as the waistband and skirt. The longer the straps, the more creative you can tie them, and the more ways you can wear the dress.

The original dress is sold by Victoria's Secret for about $79-$89.
I bought the fabric for $22 from Joann's. It was simpler than I thought it was going to be.

There are countless ways to tie and wear this dress, so it was definitely worth making, albeit, a pain in the ass.

  • Is it possible to make it with unstretchable, like satin??

  • @kawaiikuchiki07 If you do, you'll probably have to add a closure, like a zipper or something.

  • Stupid question: Where did you get that last picture? I've tried looking for it, but it's always too small for details. :[

  • @kaytlinschipper I just googled it. I know Victoria's Secret gives it to you if you buy the actual dress. Maybe you can google VS Infinity dress and see what you find.

  • Love your video. What type of sewing machine would you recommend. I want to try this out but im new to the sewing thing. Thanks

  • @LuvTruMusic I have a new sewing machine now, but the one I used to make this dress was a simple Brother LX something for beginners. It cost about $79. You can probably find one for cheap.

  • This song makes my ears bleed...

  • Two important notes about your method:

1- the skirt will be too short because the hole for the waist will take from the total length, so you need to add to the measurement before cutting the square of fabric (e.g. if you want 60cm long skirt and your waist hole is 11cm, then your square of fabric should be 60+11=71x2=142cm)

2- the hole for the waist will be too wide if you divide your waist measurement by 4. To calculate correctly, divide waist meas. by 6.14 (e.g. if 68cm waist: 68/6.14=11cm)

  • omg! i hv never had any ideas that dresses can be made so easily ( maybe only by you?:P)

I just started my beauty /fashion channel! PLEASE CHECK IT OUT and support by subbing if you like it! thanks so much!!xoxo

  • Nice vid! Thinking about convertible dresses for my brides maids so they'll have something they can wear more than once, but prices are outrageous! It would probably be easier to make them. I'd go full length tho.

  • @MissTristras If you use a zig zag stitch with a regular sewing machine, you can use regular cotton or polyester thread without the threads snapping when being stretched.

  • Very interesting, thanks for the video

  • I would love a full length version of this for summer - shame can't sew for toffee!

  • can you make ur vid a lil slower for beginners like me? lol thanks

  • Did you just move or something? Why is your place such a mess??

  • i just ran across this video; I am going to try it; if nothing else I can make the skirt part because I love those types of skirts!

  • What kind of stiches you used for elastic fabric?? I can't understand how the fabric kept the elastic character when you sewed the circle skirt with the waist band, did you use a special thread?
