I too only found out about this version and bing bam boom etc... And thought I had everything The Blues Project/Al Kooper ever recorded. That's them backing Phil Ochs here.
I could see one thinking it sounds a bit busy musically but that's why I like it! This should've been a hit.

I only just read about this version the other day, and bing bam boom I found it on You Tube like I hoped I would. Shoulda been a hit. God Bless Phil Ochs!

First time ever hearing this one. Hard to nail down exactly how I feel about it...
I like it, but somehow the instrumentation seems a little bit busy.

This came about as a direct result of the success of "The Sound Of Silence." When Columbia suddenly found themselves with a #1 hit on their hands simply by adding an electrified backing to an acoustic recording, Jac Holzman at Elektra thought he'd give the concept a shot as well. This got released as a single in the UK in early 1966, but due to it's lack of success over there, it wound up only getting released in the U.S. as a flexi-disk in an issue of "Sing Out" magazine.
