How late did you arrive in KLIA? MH 17 typically arives early in the morning, in between 6 and 7 am. In many cases, it's still quite dark outside.

@HWTheLegend You are right, the flight was delayed by six hours. We only left Amsterdam around 6pm and got to KL around 2 pm the next day. And then had to wait another 6 hours from my flight to Kuantan.
