A lot was going on in the world in 1940 and this Martin 00-21 was there to be a part of it. Maybe it belonged to a soldier or a helped a family to cope with impending world war. But clearly this guitar has a history, it's wear tells of stroke after stroke of the pick and we can only guess as the notes and chords that have flown from its soundhole. We do know the initials J.D.T. carved in it's top were from a proud owner John D. Tilley, no doubt marking his lifelong companion. This pre-war 1940 Martin 00-21 is largely original and in great playing condition. It had only one owner until 2009. The tone is that magical sound everyone wants, bold and lively with richness from old Brazilian Rosewood and power and clarity from Adirondack Red Spruce with nearly 70 years of play on it. While not a pristine collector, this is an awesome player's vintage Martin, priced fairly and offering magic for your fingertips.
